Sites in Augusta, Des Arc, Fayetteville, North Little Rock, Sherwood and Wynne named to list

LITTLE ROCK-The Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas's 2013 list of Arkansas's Endangered Places is comprised of two antebellum houses, a grand orphanage with pastoral grounds, a service station shaped like an oil can, a turn of the century commercial building that housed an opera house, a neighborhood school and two Mid-Century Modern gems.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard responded on Thursday to a partially submerged 50-foot recreational boat at the Ocean Marine Yacht Center in Portsmouth. The Marine Environmental Response Branch from Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads attempted to contact the boat's owner but were unsuccessful. Due to the possibility of pollution, crews from the Coast Guard Hampton Roads Maritime Incident Response Team and the Portsmouth Fire Department responded to investigate, and as a precautionary measure, deployed containment boom around the boat.

The Army released suicide data this week for the month of April 2013.  During April, among active-duty soldiers, there were 11 potential suicides:  one has been confirmed as a suicide and 10 remain under investigation.

DE QUEEN, Ark. – Two waves of storms that blew through Arkansas on Tuesday gave farmers some new headaches. The storms dumped 2.51 inches of rain at North Little Rock, breaking the old single-day record of 2.35 inches set in 1980. Stuttgart also saw a new record of 1.65 inches, breaking the old record of 0.95 set in 2001. Winds of 50-60 mph were reported in Polk County and Searcy County, according to the National Weather Service.
