A variety of Fourth of July celebrations and firework displays have been organized around the state. The following are just a few going on this upcoming week: 

Sparks in the Park, July 2

July 2 is Sparks in the Park, the annual fireworks festival in Texarkana at the Four States Fairgrounds. Activities at the festival start at 4 p.m and include a car and motorcycle show, a motorcycle stunt show (at 5:30p.m.), games for kids, live music, fireworks and more. For fishing fans, from 9 to noon is a Fishing Derby at Lake Dieffenbacher at Bobby Ferguson Park.  For more details visit www.fourstatesfair.com or call 870-773-2941.


The Fantastic Fourth Celebration at the Union County Fairgrounds

The Fantastic Fourth Celebration is July 4 in El Dorado at the Union County Fairgrounds. Throughout the day there are arts and crafts, food vendors, Kids World, the Fantastic Fourth Championship Car Show, the Firecracker 5K Run, a pet show, live music and more. Petit Jean State Park July 4th Fun & Games Day

Island Festival at Lake DeGray Resort State Park

The Island Festival is July 4 in Bismarck at Lake DeGray Resort State Park. The festival has games, contests and activities for the whole family. There are also crafts, a scavenger hunt, an underwater treasure hunt, a fireworks display over the lake at night and more. North Little Rock 4th Of July 31st Annual Busch-Pepsi Softball Classic

There’s not a more all-American way to spend the July 4th holiday than at a ballgame. North Little Rock has three days of first-class softball during the 31st annual Busch-Pepsi Softball Classic. Burns Park and Sherwood Sports Complex are where the action takes place July 1-3. Over 2,700 teams from 39 states have participated in the past with more expected this year. Founded as a fundraiser in 1979 for an Arkansas Class A team, the tournament is now a softball showcase of fiercely competitive men's and women's teams of all classifications from all over the country. 12th Annual Sherwood 4th of July Family Celebration

On Monday, July 4, Sherwood celebrates with the 12th annual 4th of July Family Celebration. Free food, entertainment and lots of colorful fireworks are on the schedule. Sherwood Forest is located at 1111 West Maryland. Phone 501-833-3790 for additional details.

USS Razorback Submarine July 4 Firework Show

The 4th of July Celebration sponsored by Arkansas Women's Action for New Directions offers a unique way to enjoy Little Rock’s annual fireworks display. Visitors will enjoy the sparkling show from the deck of the USS Razorback submarine, moored at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum on Riverfront Drive in North Little Rock. Also a part of the evening festivities are a holiday picnic supper and music. Admission is $25. For more information visit arkwand.org or phone 501-664-1935.

Little Rock Pops On the River Salute to Independence Day

Little Rock’s annual salute to Independence Day, Pops on the River, takes place July 4 at the Riverfest Amphitheatre. Presented by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, it is the state's largest Fourth of July celebration. Gates open to the public at 5:30 p.m. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra performs at 8:30 p.m. with the fireworks following at approximately 9:30 p.m. Visit www.arkansasonline.com/pops or phone 501-378-3807 for additional details.

Red, Hot & Blue Fourth Of July Celebration in Cabot

Looking for something interesting to do on July 4? How about a little small town music celebration. Mikeschair and Lindsay McCaul will be performing a free concert, sponsored by the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, as part of the Red, Hot & Blue celebration. The event offers a number of fun activities and ends just in time for the Cabot firework show starting at 9p.m.

Activities at this Independence Day Celebration begin at 4:30p.m. They include an: antique car show, dunking booth, face painting, inflatable jump houses, concessions, a watermelon eating contest, paintball target shooting, whiffle ball homerun derby, inflatable jump houses, baggo tournament, obstacle courses, sack races and more.
