CALS Con 2017: Let Your Geek Flag Fly, Library Comic Convention Includes Films, Panels, and Cosplay

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Central Arkansas Library System's (CALS) fourth annual CALS Con will be held at the Main Library campus, 100 Rock Street, on Saturday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A family-friendly celebration of all things fandom, 2017 highlights include a lineup of fan panels at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater: Mystery Science Theater 3000, Narrative in Video Gaming, LGBTQ Representation in Comics, Propaganda in Comics, Diversity in Star Wars: Representation Matters, and Cosplay 101. Activities also include a LEGO® display and open build by ArkLUG, a mini escape room by Central Arkansas Escape Rooms, open tabletop gaming, Harry Potter crafts, a photo booth, a cosplay contest, and prize drawings.

There will also be free CALS Con-related activities at CALS Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Avenue, the week leading up to the event:

• Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (PG-13)
Monday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 16, at 6:00 p.m.
• The Lego Movie (PG)
Wednesday, May 17, at 6:00 p.m.
• Cosplay Cantina (ages 21+)
Thursday, May 18, at 5:00 p.m.
• Fandom Quest Live Game Show
Thursday, May 18, at 6:00 p.m.
